Description Encaustic art is 2000 year old, painting with hot melted beeswax onto wooden blocks and then fused with a blow torch. It is extremely fragile when blow torching not to remelt in to its molten state, and is often called Painting with Fire.. These encaustic art designs are stunning blocks of wood 4x 4 x x inches, showcasing different designs of beehives created through the ancient technique of encaustic painting. The block’s smooth surface is layered with vibrant, melted wax, (often up to 50 layers) which gives it a rich texture and depth. The hives are rendered in intricate detail, with the wax providing a tactile, three-dimensional quality. The natural grain of the wood subtly enhances the overall composition, creating a harmonious balance between the organic material of the wood and the fluid, colourful strokes of the wax. Different shades blend together, capturing the essence of nature with a soft, glowing finish. The wax layers add a luminous quality, with the interplay of light and shadow highlighting the graceful forms of the hives. This piece of art invites both visual and tactile engagement, making it a unique and dynamic addition to any space. Blocks – are 3 dimensional and can be viewed from 360 degrees, the blocks of plywood are hand painted with different designs, in pigmented beeswax (from the Surrey Bees’ honey cappings).
